Glaciar Perito Moreno,
El Calafate
One of the few glaciers that isn't 'retiring.'
Most are retreating now, and I have to say, after this trip, I'm rooting for the glaciers.
Perito Moreno advances 2 meters a day (!) but then that amount falls off its face, so it's holding its ground.
Go, glacier, go!

Before seeing this I always thought the blue in the photos was some photoshop adjusting.
It's not.
We were there for 'La Ruptura,' the few days when the water has busted through the glacier and forms this arch:
Throngs of local families and tourists come to wait for the thing to collapse.
It's a real event. We were a day too early to see the falling of the arch, but huge chunks
of ice were constantly crashing into the water and making a thundering noise.
I never would have thought that standing in the rain for hours watching ice fall would be so riveting.
It collapsed late the next night, so while noone actually saw it, the hardcore folks who stayed
all night must have heard a terrific crash.
